Review Tweenies - Live! [1999] / 2 Entertain Video:Filmed at the London Arena, Tweenies Live captures all the energy and fun of the sell-out stage show. Jake, Milo, Bella and Fizz sing catchy songs, dance and play games-to the obvious and noisy delight of their young fans in the audience. The camera cuts from the action on stage to the excited "Tweenieboppers" in the crowd who clap, shout, sing, dance and even "moo" on cue. Doodles, Max and Judy also put in appearances, providing the quieter moments. The big screen over the stage brings a fresh element to the show and is used to great effect, as when Max sings his song and a film clip of four children appears on screen to demonstrate the accompanying actions to the audience. After more games and songs, including a rousing all-singing, all-dancing finale, the Tweenies board their spaceship, waving and cheering and leave the arena in a cloud of smoke. Tweenies Live is a high-energy, feel-good video that children over the age of two will want to watch again and again. Review Tweenies - Song Time Is Fab-A-Rooney [1999] / BBC:Hey, hey, are you ready to sing? The Tweenies are, in Song Time is Fab-a-Rooney, another entertaining and educational video from the BBC characters. The video is split into five different sections, each with a theme which unifies the songs, such as "Let's Pretend", "Counting Fun" or "Song Time Favourites". The "Copy Me" section is particularly entertaining, containing a rendition of "Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" that neither you nor your toddler will forget in a hurry. From traditional tunes such as "How Much Is that Doggie in the Window?" to more contemporary songs, such as "Monster Nosh", there's plenty to keep children (one to five) amused. Plenty of movement, action, and singing, as well as favourite characters Bella, Milo, Jake, Fizz and, of course, Doodles the Dog, will give little legs, arms and lungs a good work-out, while the educational element of the activities will encourage number-recognition and counting, co-ordination and memory skills, as well as creativity, imaginative play and musical skills. No wonder toddlers are tired by the time the 25 songs are over. Review Tweenies - Song Time! [1999] / 2 Entertain Video:The Tweenies are back for some more all-singing, all-dancing fun. This lively nursery is attended by four, multi-coloured children, with oversize shoes and large, happy faces-Bella, Milo, Fizz and Jake-and a large, fluffy red dog. Aimed at pre-teen children, from about age three, The Tweenies is popular BBC TV show that encourages activity and participation in the viewer. After the lively "Come and Have Fun with the Tweenies" introductory song, each episode starts with the Tweeny Clock, which has five options, one of which is "Songtime". This collection for video, Songtime, is a non-stop series of upbeat songs, both familiar and new, and the Tweeny children have great fun dressing-up as the characters and acting out the storylines. Favourite and familiar songs such as "10 Fat Sausages Sizzling in a Pan", "If You're happy and You Know it", "Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush" and "The Grand Old Duke of York" are interspersed with new songs, such as "Feel the Music" and "Rainy Day", all of them with actions to copy, so by time gentler songs such as "I'd Like To Be A Bubble" comes on, you will all be glad of the rest! -Alison Jardine.

Review Teletubbies - Happy Christmas [1997] / 2 Entertain Video:What better time than Christmas could there be for these four likeable, er, things? After all, like the children they really are, the Teletubbies find the whole procedure to be an endless source of wonderful surprises and exciting things to do. They get presents, of course, found with the tree which, in Teletubby Land, just mysteriously appears-exactly as it does to real children, of course (unless they're unfortunate enough to be awake when an effing-and-blinding adult is attempting to manoeuvre it into place). There's also some jolly footage of real children, including a suitably happy bunch choosing and decorating a real tree, and of course it's these sections of "outside broadcasting" which balance the caperings of the four plush poppets so well. Despite the festive theme, this needn't be a Christmas-only video; the whole world is wondrous for the Teletubbies' pre-school audience, so the occasion is perfectly presented as a part of that, no more and no less. -Roger Thomas.

Review Fimbles, Get the Fimbling Feeling / Fimbles:When The Fimbles arrived on kids TV in 2002, it unfairly drew comparison with The Teletubbies. Beyond the furry man-sized suits, there's actually a lot more going for the show. It's the perfect successor in many ways, featuring just a few more characters and situations to appeal to children beginning to form and follow words. Within each episode, something is found by one of the three Fimbles (Fimbo, Florrie or baby Pom) who populate the Purple Meadow. Near the Tinkling Tree, they experience the excitement (Fimbling Feeling) of discovering something new and eagerly share it with their friends. This allows for the soothing tones of Roly Mo to relax everyone with a story tailored to the found object. More often than not, the group is joined by the fluffy Mummy and egg family of Bessie and Ribble, whose wise observations always lead to a safety warning or two. The show's real star is left to last: the irrepressible Rockit the frog bounces all over the place causing chaos and hilarity simultaneously. As a format, Fimbles is familiar enough for the kids to know what favourite bit to look forward to. It's also significantly different enough to distance itself from any previous show. [+]-Paul Tonks.

Review Teletubbies - What's That? [1997] / 2 Entertain Video:Back again with their unfadingly popular show, the Teletubbies offer something slightly different in What's That?. A combination of the new, innovative "Teletubbies Everywhere" format and the more traditional Home Hill setting, there's something here for every Tubby fan. "Teletubbies Everywhere" are 10-minute shows, featuring Teletubbies shows from around the globe (in this instance, Finland, followed by Chile). They include real-life film clips, in which children speak their native tongue, un-dubbed. Though it may seem improbable at best, it was during this section only that the two-and-a-half-year-old reviewer of this video was truly enthralled. Following the two "Everywhere" clips is a Teletubbies 30-minute show back at Home Hill, containing the usual fun, frolics and "eh ohs" that toddlers love. This video, at 54-minutes long, is a novel variation on an old theme, and will probably keep the fans interested for a good while longer. -Lucie Naylor.
